Fermentation for Foodies

Ages: 12 and older Since the end of the Stone Age, with the start of farming practices, humans have utilized fermentation to produce interesting flavors and textures in beverages and foods. Used in cultures worldwide, fermentation is a natural food preservation process that produces some of our most beloved sour foods and sparkly beverages. You may not realize that your favorite cravings or secret ingredients, like pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi, vinegars, and yogurt, are fermented. Come make a bottle of herbed vinegar and sample a couple of fermented flavor sensations as you learn about the history and usefulness of this natural process, as well as its potential benefits.
