Introduction to Butterfly Pinning Workshop

In this introductory insect pinning class students will learn about lepidopterans and how they are preserved for collections. Students will be provided all the supplies needed to pin their own butterfly specimen. By the end of the class students will have learned how to pin lepidopteran species and have their own work to take home. This workshop is a part of BugFest, a weekend-long festival featuring entomology experts, live insects, and bug-themed fun at the Natural History Museum of Utah, August 8-9, 2026.
