Local Sandy students to graduate late May, June

Jordan Valley students will lead several area schools in their commencement exercises this spring.
At 3 p.m., Friday, May 20, Jordan Valley will celebrate its graduates in a ceremony at Midvale Middle School’s auditorium, 7852 Pioneer St., Midvale.
Honoring Jordan Valley students will be Canyons School District Superintendent Rick Robbins and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and School Performance Bob Dowdle.
The two also will speak to 13 graduates at the Canyons Transitions Academy ceremony at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 24 at the district office, 9361 S. 300 East, Sandy.
This year’s theme is from New York Yankee’s great Babe Ruth: “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”
Robbins and Dowdle also will address 42 Diamond Ridge graduates at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 24 at Midvale Middle’s auditorium.
About 530 Alta High seniors will turn their tassels at graduation in front of invited families, friends and guests. Graduating seniors will be given ticket information. Robbins will speak at the commencement exercises taking place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 25 at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Center, 1875 E. South Campus Dr., Salt Lake City.
Alta’s theme comes from children’s public television host Fred Rogers: “Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else.”
Jordan High’s commencement exercises, which will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, will take place in the Maverik Center, 3200 Decker Lake Drive, West Valley. Dowdle will speak at the ceremony.
Jordan High Beetdiggers’ theme is “Unbeetable forever.”
Waterford School is planning to hold its commencement exercises for 81 graduates at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 2 outside on the school’s main quad, 1480 E. 9400 South, Sandy. No tickets are required.
Waterford’s class of 2022 will be honored with traditional tributes by the Head of School Andrew Menke, as well as choral and orchestral music performances and yet-to-be-announced student and parent speakers.
About 100 students from Entrada are expected to graduate. The ceremony will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 16 at Jordan High’s auditorium, 95 E. Beetdigger Lane, Sandy. Robbins and Dowdle are expected to address the graduates and their families.
Also, to commemorate Canyons School District’s first graduating class that will include students who have spent their entire K-12 school years in the district, each graduate will receive a gift from the Canyons Board of Education and Administration signifying their place in Canyons District’s history.
