Brighton's snow sculptures are made by the employees and viewing them is free. All sculptures are in the resort's base area -- so you can walk to them. It's a fun activity for skiers and boarders as well as families who don't ski.

The snow sculptures are an annual event. Each department is given a huge pile of snow and the employees decide what to make and how to make it. The creations take imagination, muscle and shovels. Colors are often added to the completed sculptures.

When you go:

Leave your dog at home. The melting snow becomes our drinking water. Dogs are not allowed in the watershed.

Dress warm and wear sturdy boots. It's cold on the mountain even when it's warm in the valley. And take a hiking stick as walking on snow can be slippery.

No sledding allowed. Do stay out of the way of skiers and snowboarders.

Stay for lunch in the base area: Alpine Rose cafeteria, Molly Green Grill, Blind Miner Cafe or Milly Chalet.
