The Local Artisan Collective announces the grand opening of their new store at Kimball Junction in Ogden, Utah. The shop will feature local artist’s handcrafted gifts, artwork, and classes. It will open at 2371 Kiesel Ave, Ogden. They will eventually be located in the historic Kiesel Building across the street to the south of The Junction. The Collective will move to their permanent home at the Kiesel Building after their renovation is completed.

A grand opening will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 11am to 6pm. There will be live music, a photo booth, and demonstrations as well as food and drink from local restaurants including Lucky Slice Pizza, Grounds for Coffee, and Lost Texan BBQ.

Ogden has long been considered the armpit of Utah with its colorful past. During the last 10 years, there has been a grass roots revitalization and renascence throughout our beloved O-Town and especially to the downtown area. Ogden is now often ranked by national associations as a favorite ski town, small town and our down town 25th Street is a ranked favorite street in the USA.

“Our mission is to create a beautiful community space for local Weber artisans,” said one of the founders of The Local Artisan Collective, Stephanie Howerton.

The collective will showcase artisan and crafters work that is handmade by people who live or work in Weber County. There will be events and classes. The space provides an opportunity for artists to join a like-minded affordable community and artists a space to sell their products in an affordable way. In addition to art there will be classes offered in: pottery, water coloring, jewelry making, yoga, upcycling furniture and more.

“We are excited to be supporting our own art, other local artist and to have a venue for them to share their talents,” said Howerton. The shop will carry everything from jewelry, to toys, household items and home décor. “We will have the coolest items in our store and the best classes taught by talented artists. People will be able to come and see artists working in the studio space then come and buy the item they saw getting made.”

In advance of the opening, 14 artists have already signed up with The Local Artisan Collective. They will sell their art through a membership option, pay a monthly fee and work in the store in exchange for selling their art and teaching classes in our space. In addition, 35 other artists have committed to selling their work on consignment.

All artists who work with The Local Artisan Collective must live or work in Weber County, making the shop truly a local's artist collective.
