Loveland Living Planet Aquarium donates to the Salt Lake Head Start Program

Nov 24, 2015 08:43AM ● By Bryan Scott

The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is continuing its holiday giving tradition by donating to the Salt Lake chapter of the Head Start Program. The Aquarium collected non-perishable food items this November. Guests who donated were entered into a drawing to win prizes including a Penguin Encounter and a Family Membership.

The program is called “Stuff a Tummy.” Thanks to Aquarium employees and guests, select families in need will be able to pick up a Thanksgiving dinner. On Tuesday, November 24, Aquarium employees will help distribute the food to families at Head Start headquarters in Salt Lake City. The Aquarium is also donating 600 tickets so Head Start families can visit the Aquarium. The tickets are for Head Start’s “Operation Chimney Drop” event in December.

“We’ve been fortunate to receive generous support and donations from the community, and we are glad to give back to families in need this holiday season,” said Mike Vermillion, COO of the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. “We want to give every child in Utah a chance to visit the Aquarium, regardless of socioeconomic status.”

Head Start and Early Head Start are childhood development programs serving low-income children from birth to five years old, and their families. The media is invited to Head Start as food donations are passed out to families.
