Hit and Run Accident Being Investigated

Taylorsville - On Oct. 3, 2015 at 6:15 a.m., Unified Police Department (UPD) responded to the report of a traffic accident involving a car vs. power pole.

Residents heard a crash and looked outside to investigate. A Nissan Pathfinder had crashed into a Power Pole and had come to a rest in the west bound lanes of 5400 south at 2320 west. 

After the accident occurred witnesses reported seeing two Hispanic males running away from the Pathfinder. Officers on scene located marijuana and marijuana pipes inside the Pathfinder, however we currently do not know if drugs and alcohol were a factor in the accident. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. No injuries have been reported

Officers are working with the owner of the Pathfinder to locate the driver.           

East and west bound traffic is currently open on 5400 south.  Rocky Mountain Power was on scene working to restore power to their customers. Any inquiries regarding utility services please contact Rocky Mountain Power.
