Taylorsville - Law enforcement seized nearly 22 pounds of heroin from suspected drug traffickers in a West Valley City raid.

Unified Police Department detectives assigned to the Taylorsville Precinct Street Crimes Unit, along with members of the Utah County Mayor Crimes Taskforce, on Wednesday night found 21.89 pounds of pure heroin, 14.5 ounces of cocaine and nearly $10,000 in cash in hidden compartments in five vehicles. The street value of the narcotics is more than $1 million, police said.

Three men were arrested in connection to the seizure. They are being held without bail at the Salt Lake County jail on investigation of drug possession and distribution. One was Candelario Delgado-Soto, the home where detectives and agents performed a search warrant and found narcotics.

Investigators are sure the drug operation is connected to a Mexican drug cartel, but they had not identified which one, Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell said.

“Hopefully, we’ve shut down that operation entirely,” Bell said.
