Printing Costs vary depending on the advertiser's specifications. The advertiser may provide previously printed flyers to be inserted or may be referred by The Valley Journals to a printer.

Guidelines for Insert Ads:

1. Inserts must be at least 3.5" x 5.5".

2. Inserts final size after folding may not be larger than 8.5" x 11".

3. There is a 10,000 piece per Journal minimum.

4. No more than one zip code can be partially delivered to.

Advantages to Insert Advertising:

1. Re-usable Ads

If an advertiser has already advertised in a flyer format and has left-over flyers, the advertiser may have these left-over flyers inserted into a Valley Journal.

2. Fewer Restrictions

The actual advertisement may be designed by the advertiser and will not have the same restrictions a regular advertisement may have. For instance it may use glossy paper, or be an odd-sized advertisement.

3. Exclusive Placement

*The Valley Journals offers exclusive placement on the product or service being offered, not on the company making the offer. For example, if you are a HVAC company advertising air conditioning services, no other company can run an insert in the same area advertising air conditioning. However, another HVAC company could run a fireplace insert (a completely different product). There is no exclusive placement for political inserts. Inserts that have two or more businesses advertising, will not be given exclusive placement without a $15.00 per 1,000 add on per extra company above the first. Prior approval from TVJ MUST be obtained before placement of a multi-company insert will be allowed to run. TVJ will not be held responsible for inserts printed before approval is received.

*The Showcase is considered a section of the Journal, not an insert and therefore this does not apply.*

4. Target Advertising

Inserts may be delivered only to a specific area, based on zip code. For instance if the advertiser wishes to advertise in the South Valley Journal, they may have inserts delivered to 84065 and 84096 (Riverton, Bluffdale and Herriman) but not to 84095 (South Jordan).

5. Greater Exposure

Some advertisers believe that because an insert is separate from the actual paper it may receive more attention from the consumer and therefore draw more business.
