Thousands attend ‘Taste of Kearns’ celebration

A great community tradition continued this year with the annual Taste of Kearns event held May 5 at Kearns High School. An estimated 6,000 people attended this year’s event, enjoying music, food and more during the event’s “Cinco de Mayo”-themed activities.

Mayors cruise the Jordan River to kick off enhancement project

Mayors from Davis, Salt Lake and Utah Counties helped launch the “Blueprint Jordan River” project by floating down the river on May 5. A total of eight canoes and two-person rafts launched from the shores of Walden Park in Murray for a short 15-minute ride down the river, illustrating the potential of the waterway as a recreational area.

Taylorsville recycling program getting high marks

In July 2007, Taylorsville joined more than half of the U.S. population currently participating in curbside recycling. Based on the high satisfaction marks from a recent customer survey, Taylorsville’s curbside program is here to stay.
Full implementation of the recycle program began on July 13, 2007. Since then, 300 tons of green waste has been taken to the landfill from Taylorsville.
