Council members get a tour of new Fire Station 82

Fire chief Gil Rodriguez invited the City Council to tour the new fire station being constructed at 956 E. Vine St. The station should be finished early this summer. The station is larger than the older existing stations in Murray.
“If you drive by any station built in the last few years, they are much bigger than the older stations. You need to build to take you into the future,” said Rodriguez.

Murray celebrates Arbor Day and Earth Day

For 31 consecutive years, Murray City has been honored with the Tree City, USA award. Murray was the first city in Utah to receive this honor. To be recognized as a Tree City, USA, a community must have a tree ordinance and a forestry program. Murray plants about 300 trees each year.
This year, city officials and residents celebrated both Arbor Day and Earth Day in continuance of Murray’s commitment to trees and the environment.

Murray high graduate awarded Bronze Star

Staff Sgt. Gregg C. Gaugh, a native of Murray, has been awarded the Bronze Star for valor for his service with the U.S. Army’s Special Forces unit. His mother,
Baerbel Gaugh, and stepfather, Chris Zimmerman, still live in the community. Gaugh’s father Roland passed away in 1996.
Gaugh, a single father, is currently stationed with the Special Forces unit in the Emerald City, within Fort Carson, Colo. He resides with his two boys and their housekeeper in Woodland Park, Colo. Not expected to ...
