Ski & Snowboard News / Canyons + PCMR = Park City

Jul 30, 2015 09:01AM ● By Harriet Wallis
Park City is now Park City. It's always been confusing when skiers say they skied Park City because there are three resorts there -- Canyons, Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR). Furthermore, Park City is the name of the municipality in which all three resorts are located. Confusing? You bet.

As background, Vail has owned Canyons for several years. Last year it bought PCMR. Yesterday it announced a new name for the combined resorts. It will be called Park City.

The combined, new resort is the largest in the country with 7,300 skiable acres.

There's a $50 million investment in infrastructure and improvements including a high speed, eight passenger, two way gondola named Quicksilver that will link the side-by-side resorts. And there are new on-mountains restaurants.
