The mountains of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon are blanketed with wildflowers that all bloom at once. They're at their peak now. Get up to the resorts and enjoy them.

The Wasatch Wildflower Festival is scheduled for July 24, 25 and 26 with guided wildflower hikes for adults and kids plus a variety of other activities too. But you don't have to wait until the festival to enjoy the beauty at Alta, Brighton and Snowbird.

Tips: Go early in the day if possible. The choice parking areas fill up quickly. Alta provides a free shuttle bus from its Albion Day Lodge to the best viewing spots.

Restrooms, snacks and water are available. Wear stout shoes and take a jacket as the mountains can be cool even when it's hot in the valley. And take your camera.
